CENTRE FOR MEDICINE ASSISTED THERAPY

What is Medicine Assisted Therapy?

Medicine Assisted Therapy (MAT) is a combination treatment wherein a prescription medicine is combined with psychotherapy to assist the therapeutic process. MAT is delivered by specially trained therapists in a supportive clinical setting to promote safety and maximize therapeutic benefit. Medicines used in MAT create temporary brain changes that loosen rigidly held thought patterns and perspectives, generating access to helpful states and insights, helping patients explore their thoughts and emotions more deeply. Therapeutic integration of these experiences fosters learning and behavioural changes for lasting benefit.
